We manage our own classical active directory (not Azure AD), and use the user IDs from it for logging onto computers. On the other hand, we use Microsoft Office 365 as SaaS.

We want all users to save all their data to OneDrive which is part of our Office 365. For that our desktop engineers manually configure the OneDrive client on a user's computer at the time of setting up the computer for that user.

Is there a way to automate one or both of the following:

  1. Make users sign into the OneDrive client upon logging onto their computers. I know they we don't log onto computers with Microsoft accounts.
  2. Prevent users from saving data out of the OneDrive folder on their local storage.

    Hi Soar,

Thank you for posting on the Q&A Forum.

You can use NTFS permissions to restrict user access to locally stored OneDrive folders. This prevents users from saving data to the local OneDrive folder, but only to OneDrive in the cloud.

In System Settings, navigate to Apps->Startup and check OneDrive on the right side to set up a boot self-start.

    All the best

    Hi,

I suggest you check if the Allow syncing OneDrive accounts for only specific organizations policy will help you:
